The third Valleys’ Heritage Tour will take place on Sunday 27th July 2008. Our two previous tours raised over £7,500 for charitable causes and we hope that, with your support, this year’s event will take us beyond the £10,000 mark.
Due to the encouraging feedback from the previous tours we will again start near Blackwood and end at the award winning Llancaiach Fawr near Nelson. The route will show you the hidden delights which have helped to shape and define the character of the South Wales valleys. The tour will take in the following places of interest:
- Brecon Mountain Railway
- Caerphilly Castle
- Castel Coch
- Llancaiach Fawr Manor House
- Penderyn Whisky Distillery
- Rhondda Heritage Park
Each car will be provided with a tulip route book and rally-type plaque. The first car will be waved off at 10.00 a.m. You will then have plenty of time to follow our route and stop to visit one of the places of interest. The buffet and raffle draw will be held in “The Barn”, Llancaiach Fawr’s conference and function suite. An award ceremony will also take place in the courtyard with prizes being awarded for:
- Furthest Travelled
- People’s Choice
- Councillor’s Choice
The proceeds from this year’s event will go towards the purchase of hydrotherapy equipment for local children suffering from Schwartz-Jampel-Aberfeld Syndrome.
